Creating Forest Spirit Retreat
There is a very special energy here.
I see it as huge beams of light coming from above, meeting with light coming from Mother Earth to create a bubble of potential.
My own experience here is of a relaxation in my cells that I have rarely felt before. I have always been hyper-vigilant, my cells holding fear and trauma. Here they relax and expand. I see it happen to visitors too. The nervous system relaxes allowing for deep healing.
It was the reaction of friends who came to visit that prompted the idea of a creative retreat. As well as loving the peace and the energy, they talked about how it inspires creativity, that it was a great place to write. It echoed a vision I had about ten years earlier: a place in nature that held space for creativity. Having seen the role healing work can play in creativity, the idea came back more fully formed.
And that’s how Forest Spirit Retreat started.
The house, the land and the spirits here are their own force!
They love people, they love holding space and supporting healing and creativity.
The effect on people is clear and profound,
whether they visit for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks.
As I progressed along my own healing journey, I knew I needed/ wanted to move out of London but had no idea where to go. Working with my astrologer, we came up with a shortlist of places and they turned out to all be places that had resonated with me before. One was New Mexico.
In May 2023, out of curiosity, I set up a couple of house viewings both in the Sandia Park area and in Santa Fe. I met my realtor on Sunday. This house was the first one I saw on Monday morning at 9am. I came back on Wednesday with a contractor to check which walls i could knock down (the vision was emerging!); made an offer on Thursday and the house was mine by Friday lunch. (If only the remodel had been so quick and easy!)
When I first saw this house, it was very different to how it looks now. It was very constricted physically and emotionally. And yet, I felt something. I felt the vision before I could see it. The house and the land led the way. Throughout the remodel, the house showed the way, offering solutions when the humans got stuck. The house and studio are unrecognisable from what they were. The energy flows beautifully, creating a sanctuary here in the forest.
At no point, had I been looking for a property that could be a retreat. That was never the plan. I was looking for my own refuge, maybe with a space where I could hold groups. This place had other ideas!
I am the guardian of the space and so happy to share it with you!
